ZES exists for one reason, and that is to help the parents of troubled teens find the perfect school or program for their child. What is unique about TroubledTeenResource.com is that this directory will only list small, yet powerful (quality), schools and programs. These smaller schools and programs for troubled teens struggle to compete against the big marketing machines of the troubled teen schools owned and operated by huge corporations. If you have done a simple Google, Yahoo, or MSN search on the term “troubled teen” you will easily find the big corporate owned schools who throw hundreds of thousands of dollars at search engines to dominate the top sponsored positions. Ninety-five percent of the available schools for troubled teens cant afford to pay for the sponsored spots. Therefore, parents can't find them.

Have you not noticed there are only a few schools dominating the top 10 placements on the search engines? These huge corporations (corporate owned schools and programs) have money to burn on Internet marketing (Search Engine Optimization) and subsequently choke off the smaller schools and programs. Military schools once dominated the “specialty school industry” (troubled teen) but this is no longer the case. Many parents mistakenly believe that they can send their troubled teen to a military school to be straightened out. This is a myth. In most cases parents who send their out-of-control troubled teen to a military school are deeply disappointed. Military schools are not set up to work with kids who have drug and alcohol problems, mental disorders, or personality disorders. Military schools generally don’t work with defiant or seriously rebellious teens either.

However, military schools are excellent options for kids who are unmotivated, yet comply and submit to authority. Military schools are usually reserved for kids who are natural leaders and need disciple in their lives. To be successful at a military school students are expected to excel at academics as well as athletics. Military schools do not provide counseling or therapy, and are not therapeutic options for kids who have mental health issues.
